Nurture yourself more and develop simple rituals that support vibrant health. Surround yourself with books and magazines that encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Remove all processed foods from kitchen cabinets and create a new collection of healthful meal ideas. And, since sleep is the most important restorative agent, follow the following sleep tips to ensure that you get a good night’s rest every night:
  • Make lunch, not dinner, your biggest meal of the day. Eat foods such as salmon and turkey that are fortified with tryptophan, an amino acid that causes production of the sleep-inducing chemicals serotonin and melatonin.
  • Exercise regularly. This helps control cortisol levels, helping you sleep.
  • Avoid afternoon naps longer than twenty minutes.
  • Avoid alcohol and nicotine before bed.
  • Develop a regular bedtime routine.
  • Drink a cup of relaxing herbal tea or take a bath to help yourself wind down an hour before bedtime.
  • Create an environment that is conducive to sleep—make your bedroom a dark, comfortable haven.
  • Use scent to induce slumber: Place 3 or 4 drops of a calming essential oil like Lavender or Vanilla on a tissue and slide it underneath the pillowcase or add the oil to a diffuser lamp.
  • Before bed give yourself, or exchange with a partner, a relaxing foot massage.
