INGREDIENT GLOSSARY

DAUCUS CAROTA (CARROT) SEED OIL:

Wild Carrot Seed Oil is derived from the Daucus Carota plant or as it is commonly known Queen Anne's Lace, of the Apiaceae family.  The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried seeds and has a slightly sweet, dry and earthy aroma. It is rich in beta-carotene and Vitamin A and helps to stimulate tone and rejuvenate dull, dry skin.

DECYL GLUCOSIDE:

Decyl Glucoside is a naturally derived non-ionic, sugar-based surfactant prepared by combining corn starch glucose with natural fatty alcohol. Due to its natural origin, this cleansing agent is very mild and readily biodegradable.  It provides excellent foaming and is commonly used in preparations for sensitive skin.

DEHYDROACETIC ACID:

Dehydroacetic Acid is a bacteriostat and a fungistat.  Widely considered as one of the mildest preservatives, Dehydroacetic Acid is safe as a cosmetic ingredient in the present practices of use and concentration. In addition, it is permitted for use in certain food applications.

DEHYDROXANTHAN GUM:

Dehydroxanthan Gum is a polysaccharide produced by a process involving fermentation of sugar syrup (glucose or sucrose) by bacterium Xanthomonas Campestris. The gum is subsequently processed at elevated temperatures to remove any residual moisture. It is used in personal care products as an emulsion stabilizer, rheology modifier and hair styling agent.

DICAPRYLYL ETHER:

Dicaprylyl Ether is a naturally derived (Coconut and Palm Kernel Oils) light-weight, fast absorbing emollient oil that is used to develop skin care preparation with skin smoothing and softening benefits.

DIHYDROXYACETONE:

Dihydroxyacetone or DHA is a simple carbohydrate that is used as a tanning ingredient in sunless tanners. It reacts with various amino acids available in the stratum corneum producing different tones of coloration on the skin. It is often derived from plant sources such as Sugar Beets and Sugar Cane, by the fermentation of Glycerin.

DIPALMITOYL HYDROXYPROLINE:

Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline is a unique naturally derived compound made by combining Palmitic Acid (from Palm or Palm Kernel oil) and plant derived Hydroxyproline (amino acid). It has intrinsically high affinity for the skin proteins and helps to provide long lasting firming and moisturizing benefits. It smoothes, strengthens and rejuvenates while promoting more flexible, younger looking skin

DISODIUM COCOYL GLUTAMATE:

Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a mild amino acid based surfactant derived from natural and renewable resources. Created from Coconut Oil and fermented sugar, this gentle cleanser has excellent cleansing and foaming properties, is environmentally-friendly and well-tolerated by sensitive skin types.
