ARTISANAL SOURCING
As an active herbalist, I make my own remedies and discover new healing solutions through my own explorations. Product development at Naturopathica is inspired in my own herbal garden where I cultivate my favorite herbs such as Chamomile, Calendula, Echinacea, Valerian, Rosemary and Lavender. Before the advent of modern medicine and synthetic mass-produced drugs, people harvested herbs and relied upon the natural remedies and rituals of their ancestors to maintain and restore health. Today healing has lost much of this ancestral knowledge.
Naturopathica works with a global community of master herbalists and distillers committed to using the best of nature’s fresh raw plant materials to help alleviate common complaints from insomnia to skin imbalances to sore muscles.
The journey begins with Naturopathica’s sustainable sourcing of ingredients through harvesting plants in the wild (“wildcrafting”) or through careful cultivation by small independent farms.
Whole plant extracts derived from the flowers, leaves, roots, seeds, herbs, woods and resins of these aromatic plants are carefully distilled at low temperatures and for precise amounts of time to obtain essential oils. These highly concentrated substances contain the vital energy of the plant, and possess therapeutic properties that synthetic essential oils and fragrances cannot imitate. Plant integrity is maintained throughout our cultivation process and into the final product in our signature blue bottles.
The quality and rarity of these ingredients are enhanced by our seed and herbal oils obtained through cold pressed seed maceration or by infusing the plant in a vegetal oil. These oils are rich in essential fatty acids and offer tremendous nutritive value to skin. Many cosmetic companies use skin-sensitizing solvents to extract their oils, which reduce costs but compromises the end result.
